About this product

It is the children's version of our Gaia pull-on boot, built the same way as the adult boot. The upper is black vegan synthetic leather with a stretch panel on each side, so a child can pull the boot on and off, and a woven rear loop to pull against. The ankle is padded, and so is the insole. A small metal hexagon-E badge sits at the top of the ankle, and the ENGLANDER wordmark is debossed on the outer heel. The sole is rubber with a low block heel. The boot is water-resistant up to the elasticated ankle, and it wipes clean. Each pair comes in a branded Englander Equestrian box.

Who it is for

Gaia is made to be a child's first riding boot. Here is what a parent gets for £26.95, so you can weigh it up.

A price that suits growing feet. £26.95 including VAT, for a boot that may be outgrown within the year. For comparison, of the 28 children's jodhpur boots from other brands that Just Horse Riders had in stock on 7 September 2026, the middle price was £29.23 and 17 of them cost more than this.
No stiff leather. The upper is synthetic, the side panels stretch, and the ankle and insole are padded.
Mud comes off with a cloth. Arena surface and yard mud wipe away with a damp cloth. No polish.
90 days to send them back. Wrong size, or the child decides riding is not for them: return the boots within 90 days, on top of your statutory 14-day right to cancel.

Who it is not for

A muddy field all day. Gaia is water-resistant to the ankle, not waterproof.

Children whose feet are already past UK 3. The adult Gaia starts at UK 4 (EU 37).
Children who need a wide fit. Gaia comes in one width.

Fit and sizing

Sizes are UK child 10, 11, 12, 13, 1, 2 and 3, which are EU 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35. There is no EU 29 and no EU 36 in this range, so UK 10 is EU 28 and UK 11 is EU 30, and the adult Gaia picks up at UK 4 (EU 37) after the child UK 3. The adult ladder has no EU 40 either: UK 6 is EU 39 and UK 7 is EU 41. Measure the child's foot standing up, in riding socks, as shown in the size guide. Children's feet grow quickly, so measure again before each new pair rather than going by the last size. If the first size is wrong, send the pair back within 90 days. Care

After each ride, wipe the boots over with a damp cloth; there is no leather to polish or feed. If a child comes home with them soaked through, stuff them with newspaper and let them dry slowly, not on a radiator.

Questions riders ask

Are Gaia childs boots suitable for Pony Club?

They are a plain black jodhpur boot with a heel, which is the everyday boot children ride in at lessons and rallies. Each Pony Club branch sets its own kit list, so check yours before you buy. For a tall boot, see the Athena childs tall boots.

What should my child wear for a first riding lesson?

A short riding boot with a heel, such as Gaia, and jodhpurs or riding tights. Our Aiya riding tights are sized by waist, 20 to 28 inch. A riding hat is essential: ask the school what it lends and which standard it expects before you buy one.

Should I buy a size up for my child to grow into?

We would not. A boot that is too big lets the foot slide about, and a jodhpur boot has no laces to take up the slack. Buy the size that fits now, and use the 90-day returns if it is wrong.

Can a child get them on without help?

That is what the stretch side panels and the rear pull loop are for: hold the loop, push the foot in and the panels give. There are no laces or zips to manage. If pull-on is a struggle, the adult Gaia Zipped starts at UK 4 (EU 37).

Are Gaia childs boots waterproof?

No. They are water-resistant up to the elasticated ankle, so wet grass and a wipe down with a damp cloth are fine. They are not made for a muddy field all day. For that, a wellington or a yard boot is the right tool.
