About this product

It is a pull-on boot in the Chelsea style. The upper is black vegan synthetic leather with an elasticated panel on each side, contrast double-row stitching and a woven rear pull loop that carries ENGLANDER along its length with a hexagon-E at the tip. A small metal hexagon-E badge sits at the top of the ankle, and the ENGLANDER wordmark is debossed on the outer heel. The ankle and the insole are padded. Underfoot is a rubber sole with a herringbone tread and a low block heel. The boot is water-resistant up to the elasticated ankle, and it wipes clean. Sizing is unisex. Each pair comes in a branded Englander Equestrian presentation box with tissue.

Gaia is made to be a first riding boot for an adult. Rather than tell you it is good, here is what £29.95 buys, so you can judge it yourself.

Price. £29.95 including VAT. For comparison, of the 64 adult jodhpur boots from other brands that Just Horse Riders had in stock on 7 September 2026, the middle price was £41.59 and 55 of them cost more than this.
No stiff leather. A synthetic upper has no stiff leather to soften, the side panels stretch, and the ankle and insole are padded.
No boot care to learn. A damp cloth after riding is the whole routine. No polish, no conditioner.
90 days to change your mind. Wrong size, or not the boot for you: send it back within 90 days, on top of your statutory 14-day right to cancel.

Deep mud and standing water. Gaia is water-resistant to the elasticated ankle, not waterproof. The boot in our range that is waterproof today is the Hera country boots.

Feet larger than UK 8, or anyone who needs a wide-calf option. Gaia is an ankle boot in one width.

Fit and sizing

Sizes are UK 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, which are EU 37, 38, 39, 41 and 42. UK 6 is EU 39 and UK 7 is EU 41; there is no EU 40 in this range. Sizing is unisex. As an ankle boot, Gaia has no calf measurement. Measure your foot as shown in the size guide, wearing the socks you ride in. If the first size is wrong, send the pair back within 90 days for an exchange or refund. Care

Wipe the boots down with a damp cloth after each ride. The synthetic upper needs no polish or conditioner. If they get soaked through, fill them with paper and let them dry slowly away from direct heat.

What boots do I need for horse riding lessons?

A boot with a small heel and a covered ankle. A short jodhpur boot like Gaia does that at £29.95, and it is a common boot for adults starting lessons. Ask your riding school whether it has its own footwear rule before you buy.

Is a £29.95 riding boot actually any good?

Gaia costs £29.95. For that you get a vegan synthetic upper, elasticated side panels, a padded ankle and insole, a rubber sole, a branded presentation box and 90-day returns. You do not get leather or a waterproof boot. Reviews were collected on justhorseriders.co.uk, where Gaia has sold since April 2025, so judge from those.

Are Gaia adults jodhpur boots waterproof?

No. They are water-resistant up to the elasticated ankle, which covers wet grass and a wipe down with a damp cloth. They are not made for standing in deep mud or water. For that, choose one of our waterproof boots: the Atlas zip-front yard boots or the Hera country boots.

Are Gaia boots vegan?

The upper is vegan synthetic leather, not animal leather. We have not yet confirmed what the lining and sole are made of, so we do not describe the boot as fully vegan.

Do Gaia boots need breaking in?

We have not yet tested how much breaking in the Gaia needs, so we do not claim it needs none. The upper is synthetic, so there is no stiff leather to soften, and the side panels are elasticated and the ankle and insole are padded.
