Athena childs tall boots are Englander Equestrian's synthetic tall riding boots for children, £49.95 including VAT, in black. Sizes run from child UK 10 to UK 3 (EU 28 to 35) in one calf width. A full-length rear zip, a stretchy calf insert, padded interior and a rubber sole. Built for lessons, Pony Club and first competitions. What the Athena childs tall boot is

This is the child version of our Athena tall boot. It is a plain black tall boot with a full-length zip at the back and a stretchy calf insert, so the boot opens from the top down and closes over the calf. The upper is synthetic vegan leather. The interior is padded and so is the sole, and underneath is a rubber sole. Each pair comes in a branded Englander Equestrian box with tissue paper.

It is built for a child who has done the first few lessons and is now riding regularly, going to Pony Club (each branch sets its own kit list, so check yours), or getting ready for a first competition. After a muddy lesson it wipes clean with a damp cloth.

Englander Equestrian is the own brand of Just Horse Riders, a family-run Lancashire retailer trading since 2010. We design the range and sell it direct, and the child Athena has been on sale at Just Horse Riders since April 2025.

Size, height and calf table

All measurements are in centimetres, from our Athena size chart. The chart has no row for UK 10, so that size waits for confirmation rather than guess.

Who it is for

• Parents who want a tall boot at £49.95 rather than leather-boot money, for feet that are still growing.

Who it is not for

• Children who need a wide calf. This boot comes in one width.
• Feet of UK 4 and above, whatever the child's age. That is the Athena adults tall boot, which does come in Standard and Wide calf.
• Anyone who needs a waterproof boot for the yard. Athena is water-resistant, not waterproof.
• Children who want a leather boot.
• A very first lesson, where a short boot is the simpler buy. The Gaia jodhpur boots come in child sizes at £26.95.

Fit and sizing

Order by the child's UK shoe size. The child ladder skips two EU numbers: UK 10 is EU 28 and UK 11 is EU 30, so there is no EU 29. The child run ends at UK 3 (EU 35) and the adult boot starts at UK 4 (EU 37), so there is no EU 36 either. The adult ladder then skips one more: UK 6 is EU 39 and UK 7 is EU 41; there is no EU 40 in this range.

Then check the leg: compare the child's calf measurement, and the boot height, with the row for their size in the table above. The boot comes in one width.

Care

A damp cloth after each ride is all the upper needs; it is synthetic, so no polish. Let the boots dry away from direct heat. Before zipping up, brush any mud and grit off the rear zip, and teach the child not to force it if it catches.
