Upper	Full-grain buffalo leather in chocolate. Two-tone finish: a pebble-grain shaft with a smooth, darker cuff, mid-shaft band, vamp and heel counter.

What the Hera is made of

The upper is full-grain buffalo leather. It is a real leather boot, not a synthetic one, and it is the material choice that puts the Hera at the top of the Englander Equestrian range. The shaft has a pebble-grain finish. The cuff, the band across the shaft, the vamp and the heel counter are smooth and a shade darker.

The boot is 100% waterproof by construction. The seams are sealed rather than left open. Inside, a breathable mesh lining and comfort padding sit over a PU-moulded footbed. The insoles lift out so the boot can be dried properly after a soaking.

The sole is rubber. It is shock-absorbent and slip-resistant, with deep lugs that face in several directions for grip, and a separate heel block. The boot pulls on; there is no zip. At the cuff an elasticated panel and a leather lace, threaded through two brass-coloured eyelets, let you adjust the top of the boot around your calf.

The Hera has been on sale since January 2025. It comes in one colour, chocolate, and in two calf fits.

Riders and horse owners who spend time on wet ground: mucking out, poo-picking, walking fields and lanes, and hacking out.

Who the Hera country boots are not for

Anyone who needs a vegan or synthetic boot. The Hera is real leather. The Athena tall boots and Gaia jodhpur boots are synthetic.
Schooling, lessons and competition. The Hera is a country boot, not a tall riding boot; for those, see the Athena tall boots.
Children. The Hera is made in adult sizes UK 4 to UK 8 only. There is no child Hera.
Feet below UK 4 or above UK 8.

Fit and sizing

Order your usual UK size. UK 6 is EU 39 and UK 7 is EU 41; there is no EU 40 in this range.

Then choose a calf fit. Our size-chart graphic calls the narrower fit Regular; it is the same fit this page calls Standard. Boot height and ankle measurement are identical in both fits. The Wide fit adds 6 cm at the top of the calf at every size.

Measure your calf at its widest point while standing, and measure your ankle at its narrowest point. Compare both with the table for your UK size. If you sit between the two fits, the lace at the cuff gives some adjustment at the top, but it does not change the ankle. Our size guide explains how to measure, and if the fit is wrong you have 90 days to return the boots.

Care

Wipe the boots down with a damp cloth after each use.
If the boots get soaked through, take out the insoles and fill the boots with paper. The paper draws out the moisture and holds the shape. Dry them away from direct heat, so not on a radiator or in front of a fire.
To feed the leather, use a leather conditioner or boot polish from time to time.

Warranty and returns

The Hera comes with a 12-month fair-use warranty from Just Horse Riders Limited, the company behind Englander Equestrian. This is in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and does not replace or reduce them.

Every Englander Equestrian product has 90-day easy returns. That is on top of the 14-day right to cancel that the law gives you. UK delivery is free on orders over £50, so the Hera ships free within the UK; see the delivery page for options and timings.

Are Englander Equestrian Hera country boots waterproof?

Yes. The Hera has a 100% waterproof construction with sealed seams. Our other waterproof boot is the Atlas zip-front yard boot; the Gaia and Athena are water-resistant, not waterproof.

Can I ride in Hera country boots?

Yes, for hacking and riding around the yard. The Hera is a pull-on country boot with a lug sole and a separate heel block, not a tall competition boot. For schooling, lessons and lower-level shows, look at the Athena tall boots.
