What the Atlas is

The Atlas is a yard boot first and a riding boot second. It is made to muck out, turn out and then ride in the same pair, with a zip down the centre front so you step in rather than pull on. It joined the range in May 2026 and sits in our yard boots collection.

Englander Equestrian is the own brand of Just Horse Riders, a family-run Lancashire retailer trading since 2010. We design the range and sell it direct, and the Atlas has been on sale at Just Horse Riders since May 2026.

How it is built

Upper: oiled wax leather.
Zip: genuine YKK centre-front zip with a stitched leather storm flap. A canvas bellows gusset sits behind the zip, and YKK is stamped on the brass slider.
Toe and heel: reinforced microfibre toe cap and heel cap, bonded and stitched. The hexagon-E is embossed into the rubber heel counter.
Lining: padded synthetic mesh.
Outsole: multi-directional hybrid rubber. Deeper lugs at the heel for the yard, finer tread at the ball and toe, and a defined riding heel. That mix of tread is what lets one boot do both jobs.
Pull tab: woven rear pull tab with ENGLANDER lettering and the hexagon-E.
Markings: ENGLANDER debossed below the collar, and an oval ENGLANDER badge moulded into the arch of the sole with the size beside it.

Who it is not for

Children. The Atlas is adult sizes only. For a child, see the Gaia jodhpur boots for children now, or the Demeter yard boots when they arrive.
Riders who want a tall boot for schooling, lessons or lower-level shows. That is the Athena tall boots.
Anyone who needs a wide-calf option. The Atlas comes in one width; Hera and Athena adults offer Standard and Wide calf.

Fit and sizing

The Atlas comes in five adult sizes: 37EU/4UK, 38EU/5UK, 39EU/6UK, 41EU/7UK, 42EU/8UK. UK 6 is EU 39 and UK 7 is EU 41; there is no EU 40 in this range.

There is one width per size and no calf-width choice. The collar is padded.

The zip runs down the centre front with a gusset behind it, so the boot opens up to step into rather than pulling on over the heel.

How to measure, and the full ladder for every range: size guide. If the size is wrong, send them back within 90 days.

Care

Wipe the boots down with a damp cloth after each use.
If they get soaked through, fill them with paper to draw out the moisture and hold their shape, and dry them away from direct heat.
Our printed care hints for leather boots say to feed the leather with a conditioner or boot polish, but not to use those products on distressed leather.

Are the Atlas boots waterproof?

Yes. The Atlas is fully waterproof: the oiled wax leather upper sits over a sealed internal waterproof construction, with a leather storm flap behind the YKK zip.

Can I ride in the Atlas?

Yes, for everyday riding. The outsole has a defined riding heel and a finer tread under the ball and toe, with deeper lugs at the heel for the yard. It is a yard boot first; if you want a tall boot for schooling, lessons or lower-level shows, look at the Athena tall boots.

Atlas or Hera, which should I choose?

Atlas is a £59.95 zip-front yard boot in oiled wax leather, one width per size. Hera is an £89.95 pull-on country boot in full-grain buffalo leather, 100% waterproof with sealed seams, in Standard and Wide calf, with a 12-month fair-use warranty. Both are waterproof. Choose Hera for full-grain leather, a wide calf or the warranty, and Atlas if you want a zip and a lower price.

What size should I order? There is no EU 40.

The Atlas runs 37EU/4UK, 38EU/5UK, 39EU/6UK, 41EU/7UK and 42EU/8UK, so UK 6 is EU 39 and UK 7 is EU 41; there is no EU 40 in this range. If the size is wrong, you have 90 days to send them back.

Is the Atlas available in black?

No. The Atlas comes in brown only, in dark brown oiled wax leather.
